Community

Sylvia Rodriguez serves as Vice President of the Valero Energy Foundation, the charitable arm of Valero Energy Corporation.  She has been with Valero since 1992 having held several executive assistant roles, including Assistant to CEO, Bill Klesse. Sylvia is Valero’s primary contact for charitable donations from Valero and the Valero Energy Foundation.  She is often the “face of Valero” at community meetings and at many Valero-sponsored events.  She also serves as the community relations liaison for Valero’s field locations throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.  Additionally, Sylvia oversees Valero’s Volunteer Council and other employee groups such as the Valero Mentoring Program, Velo Valero Cycling Team, and the Valero Veterans group.

Throughout her career, Sylvia has remained committed to supporting the community by participating in numerous volunteer projects for a variety of agencies, including Habitat for Humanity, the San Antonio Food Bank, and the San Antonio Parks Foundation on whose Board she serves.  For several years, she has ridden her bicycle 150 miles over 2 days for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s annual fundraiser, the Bike MS: Valero Alamo Ride to the River. She also rides her bike for the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure each year.   Sylvia is originally from Harlingen, Texas and has called San Antonio “home” for 40 years. She and her husband, Marty enjoy primitive camping and spending time with their friends and family, most especially with their grandchildren, Silas, Luka, and Isabella. They are also proud of their children, Jackie and husband Vince, Marty, Jr., Jeff and wife, Christina.
