Community Involvement
Delicious Tamales has a strong commitment to the local community and throughout the year supports various causes and fundraises for non-profit organizations such as 1) The Delicious Inc. Scholarship Fund – given annually to a deserving student at Valerie’s high school alma mater; 2) TamaleFest & Tamale Eating Contest a partnership with Our Lady of the Lake University that celebrates the tamale-making tradition, provides family fun, and raises money for local charities; 3) The Annual Tamale Art Auction a unique event that challenges local artists to create works of art using the corn husk and raises money for local charities; and 4) The Annual Tamale Season Kick-Off – that officially kicks-off the tamale-buying season in San Antonio, to name a few. Company mascots “Paco and Lola” also participate at many community events and parades throughout the year. In 2008, Delicious Tamales made history when it donated 10,000 tamales to the Cowboy Breakfast. It was the first time tamales had been served alongside breakfast tacos in the Cowboy Breakfast’s 30-year history!
