Mission

HOPE (Hispanic Organization for Public Employees) was formed on November 6, 2003. HOPE is a common interest, non-profit and nonpartisan organization committed to supporting present and future corporate objectives and to assisting in the development and advancement of HOPE membership at CPS Energy and in the community, it serves.

Maria Garcia

Vice President Community Engagement CPS Energy

Maria Garcia has been an employee of CPS Energy since September 1999. Maria was named Vice President of Community Engagement on February 1, 2014. She is currently responsible for the newly developed Community Engagement area which will be highly visible and mobile within the community. This team will focus on increasing our customer care and public safety education to our customers in the CPS Energy service territory.

Maria currently serves as a Director on the Boards of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Build San Antonio Green and Solar San Antonio. Previously, she served in various positions for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Air Force. Maria earned a master of business administration degree from the University of the Incarnate Word.

As director of Business Planning for CPS Energy, Mari Weymouth leads the enterprise business planning and benchmarking program for the largest municipally-owned electric and gas provider in the nation. Her responsibilities include strategy alignment via the business planning process and well as manage performance management. Previously, Weymouth served as interim director of Supply Chain, where she was accountable for the Procurement Policy, Sourcing & Category Management, Inventory Management, Supplier Diversity Office, and Supplier Engagement. Weymouth served CPS Energy from 2003 - 2010, and rejoined in 2015. Weymouth has served in various capacities across the organization; including, Business Operations Management, Information Technology, Human Resources, Energy Delivery Services, Smart Grid Transformation, Corporate Communications, and Supply Chain, leading organizational change management for enterprise-wide initiatives. Weymouth holds a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Finance from Our Lady of the Lake University and a Bachelor of Arts, with a concentration in Computer Science/Application Systems from St. Mary’s University. In addition, Weymouth completed the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Alexander E. Briseno Leadership Development Program and the On Leadership Program at the Levinson Institute. Weymouth is a member of the Delta Mu Delta International Honors Society, President of the CPS Energy Hispanic Organization for Public Employees (HOPE), member of Business Careers High School (BCHS) Corporate Advisory Board, member of Women Empowered (WE) organization, and also served on the Ella Austin Community Center Board of Directors.
Pearl Marie Martinez was born and raised in San Antonio. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of the Incarnate Word in 1998 and a Dual Master’s degree from Webster University in 2003. Since she’s worked much of her career in Human Resources, she decided to attain her (PHR) Professional in Human Resources. She currently works in Enterprise Occupational Safety & Health at CPS Energy and is an Adjunct Professor at University of the Incarnate Word. She has four children and is a recent grandmother of two grandchildren, Elijah and Aaliyah.
Maria has been employed at CPS Energy since 2001. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Our Lady of the Lake University. She currently works with the Field and Payment Services team. She was appointed co-chair for HOPE Banquet Committee in 2015. She has 3 children and 4 grandchildren, and enjoys spending time with her family.

San Juanita Loredo was born in Laredo, Texas and moved to San Antonio at the age of 3, which she considers her home.  She is a Financial Services Project Manger in Financial Operations at CPS Energy.  San Juanita received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and her Master of Business Administration from St. Mary’s University.  She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Global Management Accountant.  She is also a graduate of Leadership San Antonio, a participant in the Bloomberg Business Program, and a member of the Women’s Energy Network.
Frank has been employed at CPS Energy for over 20 years. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He currently works with the MDS/GIS Team. He is also a founding member of HOPE and was the Chair for the Scholarship Committee for the first 5 years.
Blanche Vara, a native San Antonio resident and a HOPE co-founder has served as a former President of HOPE, been on the Hispanic Heritage Banquet Committee, Honoree Selection Committee, Scholarship Committee, and Coordinator for the hope-sa.org website. Blanche retired in 2008 from CPS Energy with 35 years of service. Also, a 1991 Graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University, Blanche’s husband is Jose Vara and they have a son Jose II and daughter Evette.
