“It is truly an honor to be chosen for the Jimmy E. Garcia HOPE Scholarship! I want to take this moment to thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing to invest in my future. I am so grateful to be given this opportunity, and I will be sure to make the most of it by taking advantage of all the doors that are now open since being granted this scholarship.
This scholarship allows me to pursue higher education without having to worry about all the debt that comes with doing so. I hope one day to pass forward the gift you have given me and allow other students to have the support that I have now. Thank you for your commitment to UTSA and choosing to invest in students who are the future of our society.”

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the Jimmy E. Garcia Scholarship that you have generously awarded me. Your support means more to me than words can adequately convey. Receiving this scholarship is an immense honor and a dream come true for me. It is not merely financial assistance; it is a vote of confidence in my dreams and
aspirations. Your belief in my potential is incredibly motivating, and it has inspired me to work harder than ever before
to achieve my academic and career goals. This scholarship will make a profound difference in my life. It will alleviate the financial burden of my education, allowing me to focus more on my studies and extracurricular activities.
Your generosity is opening doors of opportunity for me that I could have only imagined. Beyond the immediate impact on my education, please know that your support has kindled a sense of responsibility within me. I am committed to making the most of this opportunity and, in the future, giving back to the community and helping others, just as you have helped me. Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and belief in my potential. I am deeply grateful for your support, and I promise to work diligently to justify the faith you have placed in me. Your kindness will have a lasting impact on my journey at UTSA and beyond.”

I am David Moreno, a 19-year-old born and raised in San Antonio. I’m studying architecture at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where I'm proud to say that I have developed a growing obsession for the practice and have now been inducted into the National Honor Society. In addition to my academic pursuits, I’m passionate about videography, where I create social media videos for local businesses here in San Antonio. I also take environmental responsibility seriously by making monthly donations to the Nature Conservancy organization and dedicating time to studying the global climate crisis. I’m committed to both my education and making a positive impact on our planet.
